It's been a long time

So, what's new:

I am working as a Master-Printmaker @ UTSA
I also teach @ UTSA
I taught a 2 Dimensional Design course this semester which was a learning and growing experience for me. Luckily, the Professor that heads up the foundations committee felt I did a good job teaching the course and wants me to teach it again. I will be teaching a Basic Printmaking course this summer and Book arts again in the fall.

I applied for a painting position at BYU back in January and ended up getting an interview out of it, but did not get the job. Yet, I wasn't too disappointed because I expected as much. It was good to have an interview either way. The professors who interviewed me (all of whom I knew quite well) encouraged me to apply for a printmaking position that will be opening up at BYU next year. So, I'll be doing that.

Let's see . . . what else is new? I'm calling a 3rd counselor in the Elder's Quorum Presidency due to the size of the quorum. That's kind of exciting.

Things are going moderately well in other respects; can't complain.

My Groovy New Camera

Alright, peop's, I had to post some shots of the 4x5 pinhole camera that I built. Here she is.

As far as life goes . . . it's crazy. I'm teaching an undergraduate bookbinding course, working as the master printer for an ongoing visiting local artist print suite, taking 9 credits, preparing for my MFA thesis show and still serving as the EQP in my ward. Recently I released both of my counselors and called new ones (the previous ones had been with me for about 1 year and 9 months). Our bishopric changed recently, so, I'm like the bishop's go-to-guy. I gave our quorum the chastity talk recently which was really interesting (I did this at the Bishop's request). Anyways, I'm also part of a missionary committee for institute. So, la vida mia es loca.

My Nephew the Sausage Link

Here are some nice pics of me and my nephew, whom I affectionately have nicknamed the "Sausage Link". He's Erin and Jed's son and his real name is "Levi". I happened to be home for a very quick trip and took some photos. Enjoy.

These are a couple of shots of me dancing at a swing place in Spain. The spaniard chicas were much better at dancing than I am.

The following are a pictures of my 3 hermit crabs. I've been told that if I can keep them alive (which I've successfully done for about 5 months now) then I'll be ready for bigger and better things (like marriage and family). Unfortunately I killed two hermit crabs before I had my 5 months of success with these three. I still think it was Shelly's and Elise's fault, but that is a story for another time.

This is Peter.

This is James.

And this is John. John is the biggest of the three and happens to be a slightly different variety of hermit crab. He's a strawberry hermit crab.

Espain

I thought y'all might enjoy some pictures and stuff from my adventures in Barthelona. I shall make an attempt to intersperse some text with the photos, but no guarantees. I am but a young paduan in the art of blogging.

The following are some shots from the pinhole cameras that I made.

This is a giant bronze cat that was not far from our dormitories. He's about as tall as I am.

This is at the entrance of a famous park called Parc Guell. It was designed by Gaudi. This is kind of a wierd picture, but I like it.

This is a shot I took with the Chufi horchata camera (my favorite camera). It is a view of the Sagrada Familia, a cathedral that has been in the process of construction for like 100 years. The cathedral was absolutely amazing. I'll put up some more shots of it later.

This is a picture of the 3 cameras that I made. It was taken by the center camera in a mirror. The exposure was like an hour!

This is me and my crazy fellow artists right before we gave a presentation at a school called Metafora (metaphor, for the non-spanish speakers out there).

I was going to put some pictures of me dancing, but I can't figure out how to put them down here. The pictures always go to the top. Anyway, I'll put them on a later post. Peace out.
